How do you make a treatment as precise as the image that guides it? This question links the two stages of Jérémie Anquez's career. He first worked on medical image analysis, then turned to high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU), at Theraclion since 2010. His approach is that of an engineer-researcher: bringing modelling, experimentation and imaging together so that the therapeutic procedure becomes measurable, controlled and therefore reproducible.
Rethinking how HIFU energy is delivered for the non-invasive treatment of veins, and carried this project from design to commercial launch: he led the preclinical studies, supported the clinical trials and worked with practitioners in the field.
He led the development of the Beamotion technology, which tripled the treatment speed of the HIFU device for breast and thyroid indications, and conducted the preclinical studies supporting CE marking and the IDE application, while opening the way to new indications (veins, oncology) and working with practitioners in the field.
Using 3D ultrasound and MRI, he built realistic 3D anatomical models of the pregnant woman at every stage of pregnancy (the FEMONUM project, with three hospital radiology departments), then of the child (the ANR Kidpocket project, with Orange Labs), in order to assess exposure to mobile phone waves.
Jérémie Anquez wants to make HIFU treatment of veins a reference alternative, entirely non-invasive, to current techniques. To do so, he draws on all of his experience: modelling, demonstrating with robust data, then supporting adoption in the field. He wants to keep linking research to clinical practice, so that every technological development meets a real need of practitioners and patients. He also intends to consolidate the scientific evidence that will allow the technology to be extended to new indications.
He signs: Articles on the science behind HIFUs, engineering, mechanics, robotics, software.
He does not sign: Medical articles, medical research or patient advice.
